Some background on our guest speaker: Mike Hawkins, moved to Brentwood from Wales with his wife Diane 40 years ago; and brought up his family here. His career was in City banking where he was on a Divisional Board for NatWest/RBS. He represented the Bank on many national and international Boards and committees and became the Chairman of MasterCard UK.
Since retirement, he has been a magistrate, and was CEO of Brentwood Chamber for over a decade. Mike became Chairman of BBP in 2017. He is also a member and past President of the Rotary Club of Brentwood a Becket.
The Brentwood Business Partnership had its origins in the Town Centre Partnership, changing to the Renaissance Group in around 2008; and repurposed itself in 2017 to become BBP. Its aim is to help create the economic conditions for Brentwood (Borough) to become increasingly thriving for business, visitors and residents, through a partnership between local business, Brentwood Council and key local organisations.
