About The Owner
Katrin Dennehy is the owner of the local Tutor Doctor office which serves Upminster, Brentwood, Dagenham and all surrounding communities. With Tutor Doctor, Katrin provides an in-home, one-to-one tutoring service to local families, helping students fulfill their potential with the firm belief that everyone can learn and achieve with the right support.
Katrin is extremely vested in the success of those in the community. A former Vice Principal, having worked in mainstream education for over ten years, Katrin saw the need for providing a more personalised learning experience to students in order to support them in ways that mainstream education cannot offer due to growing class sizes and staffing difficulties. Especially once she finished her training to be a Special Needs Coordinator, Katrin realised that more specialised support in the home for those with Special Educational Needs would also be extremely beneficial. As the owner of the local Tutor Doctor office, Katrin continues to make a difference in the lives of those within her community by providing supplementary education in order to change the trajectory of students’ lives.
Katrin is also a parent of two‚ as well as having two step-children and knows about the stresses and demands on families when parents are working full-time and students are studying for exams and struggling to cope with the content in lessons as well as homework and revision when at home. So, when the opportunity came along to open a Tutor Doctor office, she jumped at the chance to offer this very important resource to other parents, ensuring parents and students receive a high quality service for their peace of mind.
Katrin has a First Class Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Language Studies as well as a Masters in Education. She has worked as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator and completed her National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO). Katrin has worked as a Designated Safeguarding Lead at her previous school and has a Level 3 Safeguarding Certificate as well as having undergone Safer Recruitment Training. She has also worked hard to address mental health issues in her school and is acutely aware of the consequences poor mental health can have on students’ progress and achievement. With such credentials, families can trust her ability to recruit an excellent team of tutors into her Tutor Doctor team.
